Staying Active In The Winter

Staying Active In The Winter

Winter is just about here, leaving behind any warmth that is lingering on from the fall months. For many of us, winter’s bitter cold days have overpowered us, forcing us to stay indoors and cradle in our warm sofas. However, there are still ways to you can stay active this winter. Don’t just sit by the fireplace until spring rolls around; these active ideas will help keep you moving and feeling your best:

  • Winter Activities – Take advantage of the activities that are only available in winter. Activities such as ice skating, sledding, and skiing not only provide an opportunity to stay active but also to enjoy winter.
  • Stay Hydrated – Staying hydrated in the winter, is just as important.
  • Utilize Indoor Places – Walking around in an indoor location like the mall is a great place to start your walking routines.
  • Sign Up For Activities –  Most schools and local community centers provide extremely discounted workout classes like yoga, tai chi, etc.
  • Home Gym – If the weather gets too bad, it’s a good idea to turn your living room into a mini gym. Get some good music going and dedicate some time to accomplishing some exercises.
  • Climb Stairs – Either at your home or your workplace, spend some extra time climbing up and down the stairs. Even just implementing five extra minutes a day, adds up.
  • Indoor Swimming – Try swimming in the pool or even walking or treading water.
